Wood Fencing Has a Rival In Vinyl

Building material protection is an important part of construction, whether dealing with concrete flooring or walls, decking, or siding. In the case of fencing, environmental and chemical protection from moisture, wind, and corrosion are equally fundamental. Wood is a practical, versatile, and affordable material for most decks and fences, and is very do-it-yourself friendly, but is also susceptible to common damaging. More and more materials and surfaces are being modified to present a natural “look and feel.” In the case of concrete, stencils are one method. For wood fencing, vinyl is another.

Alternative building materials for the purpose of improving longevity and decreasing repair and maintenance costs is becoming more accessible. Vinyl fencing while seemingly more initially expensive than wood, becomes more economically sound over time, lasting much longer. Vinyl has a higher tensile strength than traditional wood fencing, requires no staining or surface maintenance, has less tendency to warp, and will not rot. Installation is a far less frustrating and time consuming endeavor, making independent installers able to cut further costs. For the environmentally conscious, which these days includes nearly everyone, vinyl is totally recyclable, and non-toxic.

More economically and environmentally sound improvements are constantly being implemented into the building world, replacing natural materials, altering the real “look and feel” of the original. But over time, as with vinyl and wood fencing, these improvements are becoming more and more succinct when it comes to replication. This, in accordance with saving money, time, and maintenance work makes some of them completely worthwhile.
